EXODUS' History
How did the EXODUS
Network start? How long has it been operating?
The EXODUS
Network was formed in late 1993 as a result of a combination of several events.
Early in his career as a local real estate agent, our Broker, David
Veenstra, was concerned that he be able to suggest a true professional when a
customer/client asked him to recommend an out-of-state REALTOR®. It is easy to
refer someone to a REALTOR® in another community, but David wanted some
assurance that he was recommending knowledgeable agents who worked with utmost
integrity. He realized the value of background checking and desired to find
agents who would give his customers the same level of service that he provides.
He quickly found that reference checking each agent took too much phone time and
energy.
About the same time, David was working to complete his MBA,
studying the impact and implications of "Niche Marketing to the Christian
community." Through his studies, he recognized an opportunity to impact a target
market in a positive way.
Cindi Veenstra, meanwhile, was still
"settling" into the community after returning from living in the Philippines.
The REALTOR® who helped them purchase a home was one of the first people that
the Veenstra's met when they moved into the community. "Jean" was a wonderful
resource for information about the community in general, but also really helped
them get the information they needed about the Christian community. She served
as a community information specialist and helped them to embrace the Kalamazoo
community.
After becoming Chair of the Promotions Committee at the local
Christian School Association, Cindi learned that many families who moved into
the community were not aware that Christian Education was an option. She
believed it was imperative that families have the information they needed to
make informed decisions regarding their children's schooling. Cindi and David
believed that REALTORS® could play a significant role in welcoming new families
and providing them with access to helpful information.
David and Cindi
took each of these factors into account when they created The EXODUS Real Estate
Network. EXODUS is a Network of REALTORS® throughout the USA and Canada, with
highly recommended agents who are prescreened and continually evaluated, work
with utmost integrity and honesty, are committed to maintaining their education,
and are specialists in Christian community information.
